  • *The Seasons Presents: The Paperboys

    Date: 9/19/2019

    Location: Yakima
    101 N. Naches Ave, Yakima, WA 98901

7:30 p.m. We are delighted to welcome The Paperboys back to The Seasons!

Celebrating their 25th anniversary year, Vancouver Canadian musician Tom Landa, is looking back on the legacy of his much-loved folk-rock band The Paperboys. For a quarter century, The Paperboys have been touring the world and lighting up stages with their freewheeling blend of influences from Celtic and bluegrass, to Mexican son jarocho, brass bands, and Canadian roots. They have been called everything from Cajun slamgrass to worldbeat, they’ve received a Juno award (Canadian Grammy), plus two Juno nominations, two West Coast Music Awards, released nine albums, and regularly play two-night bills in the Pacific Northwest. But that’s not what matters to Landa now. “What means more to me than anything else is to receive letters, emails, or hear stories from people who tell me that our songs helped them through a tough time, or that they used one of our songs for their wedding, or that an album of ours was the soundtrack of their summer. At the end of the day, accolades are nice, but they are nothing compared to connecting with people.” Landa’s song ‘Better Than The Last’ has become somewhat of an anthem for people who have gone through hard times.

Cedar & Boyer began as the collaboration between Justin and Jen Landis. With roots in the singer-songwriter tradition, their sound is a shifting combination of instruments and arrangements. Their songs are melodically earnest and serve as the anchor for their exploration.

Justin Landis has been writing, recording and performing music for more than 2 decades. His approach to music is inventive and capricious. Instrumentation and melody are fickle and fluid.

6 p.m.- 9 p.m. Join us at Walter Clore Wine and Culinary Institute Saturday, September 21st, for our September Supper Club with Elentone wines and a delicious meal created by Jade's British Girl Treat.

First the wine: Chris Cherry of Elentone, a winemaker now based in Washington making world-class boutique sparkling wine. Chris is a Brit, and started his career in southern England (where, yes, they make wine, and great wine at that). After training in France, he moved to Washington and we're happy to claim him and the beautiful bubbles he's making.

Now the food: Locals know and love her - Jade! Another Brit expat living and working in Washington. Starting with sweet treats and beautiful chocolates, Jade quickly built her business to include a wide selection of food and catering, focusing on delicious and filling comfort food.

We thought what better way to celebrate their fine contributions to Washington wine and food, than by pairing them together to offer a BRITISH INVASION themed dinner!

Menu and pairings coming soon - please note this wine will be sparkling (and white/rose`). Wine pairings with each course are included in your ticket price, with additional wine by the glass or bottle available for purchase.

These events sell out! Get your tickets NOW!

Supper Club is a monthly dinner with a different theme each time. From guest chefs, to featured produce, to visiting winemakers and more; there's always something unique at Supper Club.

    Club Price: $50+tax

(Not a member? Click here for more information on joining the Best Cellars Wine Club and receiving discounted tickets and other perks.)

    Regular Price: $55+tax

    Date: 9/21/2019

    Location: Yakima
5703 Tieton Drive, Yakima, WA 98908

11 a.m.- 2 p.m. Join us at The Public House of Yakima with Inklings Bookshop to welcome back hometown favorite Kelli Estes, author of The Girl Who Wrote in Silk, celebrating the release of her new book, Today We Go Home!

    TODAY WE GO HOME:

    Seattle, Washington

Larkin Bennett has always known her place, whether it’s surrounded by her loving family in the lush greenery of the Pacific Northwest or conducting a dusty patrol in Afghanistan. But all of that changed the day tragedy struck her unit and took away everything she held dear. Soon after, Larkin discovers an unexpected treasure—the diary of Emily Wilson, a young woman who disguised herself as a man to fight for the Union in the Civil War. As Larkin struggles to heal, she finds herself drawn deeply into Emily’s life and the secrets she kept.

    Indiana, 1861

The only thing more dangerous to Emily Wilson than a rebel soldier is the risk of her own comrades in the Union Army discovering her secret. But in the minds of her fellow soldiers, if it dresses like a man, swears like a man, and shoots like a man, it must be a man. As the war marches on and takes its terrible toll, Emily begins to question everything she thought she was fighting for.

KELLI ESTES is the author of The Girl Who Wrote in Silk. She lived in the deserts of Washington state and Arizona before settling in the Seattle area. She’s passionate about stories that help us see how the past shapes who we are today, and how we all have more in common than not.

Please join us at the Public House of Yakima for a signing with Kelli!

Each hop harvest, the big city brewers from Cloudburst Brewing make the trek from downtown Seattle over the Cascades to team up with the farm brewers from Bale Breaker to brew Citra® Slicker Wet Hop IPA, a fresh hop beer that was first brewed in 2014 with then-owner of Elysian Brewing, Dick Cantwell. While it takes the Cloudburst team over two hours to get to Bale Breaker, the hundreds of pounds of wet Citra® hops picked fresh from the fields travel just four minutes from farm to kettle. Heavily dry-hopped, while light in color and body, this beer is all about these fresh, farm-grown hops!
