  • On Whitman Pond Concert Series featuring Gretchen Yanover

"On Whitman Pond" concert series  Saturday, August 31st 6:30pm.  Please join celebrated cellist, Gretchen Yanover, to close out our inaugural ?On Whitman Pond? featured concert series with a stirring performance of her own compositions using a looping pedal. Support Tacos Don Chayo who will be onsite through the evening performance serving what many consider the best street tacos in the Valley. Unfurl a blanket on our comfortable terraced lawn and grab a bottle of wine and allow the ambient soundscapes to captivate you.

From a young age, Gretchen sought respite from anxiety through music, where she found a place of belonging and recognition. ?Putting sound to the feeling? allowed her to articulate those emotions through artistic expression. Gretchen began experimenting with a loop sampler which inspired her to improvise and compose spacious string atmospheres woven with warm melodies. The resonance and undercurrent of meditative energy from the many layers created with the loop pedal combined with the spectacle aspect of an electric cello aids in breaking down a barrier of preconceived notions of the classical genre. Maggie Molloy from Classic KING / NPR Slingshot describes her performances as a ?one-woman show, [where she] crafts instrumental atmospheres that grow and transform onstage.? With her caliber of musicianship and unique ability to convey a range of raw emotions, Gretchen Yanover is sure to elevate your evening in wine country.
