Yakima Valley Wine Country

Fall in the Winery at Sleeping Dog Wines

10/1/2020 - 10/31/2020

Event submitted by: Sleeping Dog Wines

Location: Benton City

45804 N Whitmore PRNW, Benton City, WA 99320

Our tasting room has moved outside to allow social distancing, and we are featuring a three-pack of 2009 reds for $85.  Each of the wines was made for the long-haul and they are tasting pretty doggone good!

** Crush 2020 edition is now a done deal.  Rosť has officially completed fermentation, so now itís a matter of cleaning up the juice and performing some backroom manipulations. Although we harvested during one of the most oppressive smoke days in the Yakima Valley, we took steps to minimize the effect on the grapes.  I still want to do a little adjusting to enhance the fruit flavors of the Petite Sirah/Syrah/Malbec blend. After bottling, Iíll need to find room in the winery to store the cases until Spring!

In addition to the Rosť, we will be bottling some of the 2019 Sirius this Fall, for Spring Release. This Port-style wine is a blend of the same grapes as the 2017 edition, though the percentages had to be modified on the fly to reflect different conditions in the vineyard. Initial reviews in the tasting room have been pretty favorable!

COVID restrictions have definitely had an impact on traffic through the tasting room! In an effort to offset this turn of events, we are temporarily offering increased discounts on multiple bottle purchases Ė 15% for six bottles and 30% for case purchases.  Club Aurora Members see additional benefits. In addition, we have partnered with Vino Shipper and can now ship to approximately 30 states that were not previously accessible!

For those of you who are going to be in the neighborhood (or are looking for an excuse), we will be conducting a vertical tasting of Malbec (2009/2010/2011/2012) on October 17/ 18 at the winery. Cost will be $15, complimentary to Club Aurora Members. Reservations are recommended.

I hope that you are all faring well and hope to see or hear from you soon!
