Historic District

Yakima Historic District

While the City of Yakima has gone through many changes over the last 100 years, this area of Yakima known as the Old North Yakim National Historic District remains today much as it was long ago, waiting got discovery by adventurous souls. The recent renovations and improvements were bassed upon historic streetscape elements and roginal activities of the area.

Northern Pacific Railroad, having been denied its request for services in what is now the City of Union Gap, Washington, gave away land in what became North Yakima in the early 1880's. Many businesess moved to this area bringing bothe commerce and their buildings from their original location and created the new town of Yakima.

Take a step back into history with a stroll along the boardwalk of Track 29 and visit very unique shops located in authentic railroad cars. Visit the restored 1912 Northern Pacific Depot which houses boutique shops and attractions located on North Front Street.
